Welcome to another episode of the Lamplighter Design Academy. And in this video, we're going to cover how to start and set up your InDesign layout. So first of all, go to your Spotlight search or just open InDesign. It'll be InDesign 2024. Wait for it to boot up. Like so. And click on new file. For, you can also click letter. If you're in your year, you guys decide that the optimum.

Paper size is letter or else just click on new file and then make sure that your units are not in decals or points or any of these but in inches because usually that's how we're going to discuss how our sizes are going to be and make sure that the width and the length are right This year we decided again on letter size so that's 8 by 5 8.5 times 11 inches and make sure that your margins are all set in the proper way

This year, we've decided on 0.375, as well as just make sure that everything just looks right. Once you click create, your document is ready for a layout and just make sure to go back into the margin section and change the number of columns you want. This year and the past years, we've always done three because we think that that's just the best way to have articles set up.
